Problem Statement on case Evita Alonso
The patient is a 48-year-old female who presents to the clinic for abdominal pain that has worsened over the last two days. She reports vomiting three times during the previous two days, pain radiating to the right shoulder, with a loss of appetite, dark urine, and pale stools. She denies hematemesis. She stated that her abdominal pain increased with eating. She described the pain as a gnawing, cramping ache that started at a 2 or 3 when up to as high as 7, and it is now a 3 or 4 on the pale scale. A physical exam revealed tachycardia, a positive Murphy's sign, mild scleral icterus, fever, and orthostatic hypotension. She also endorses increased use of NSAIDs. Risk factors include gender, age, family history, obesity, and poor diet.
