Problem Statement on case Evita Alonso
EA is a 48-year-old female who presents to the clinic with colicky RUQ pain x two weeks. Pain started as intermittent but is now constant; increased in intensity over the last two days, from 2-3 on a scale of 1-10 up to 6-7 at most; currently at 3-4. Associated symptoms include nausea, vomiting (nonbilious, non-bloody), anorexia, light-colored stools, and dark urine. Pain intermittently radiates to the right shoulder, is provoked by food intake, and is non-responsive to NSAID and antacids. Patient is found to have tachycardia, orthostatic hypotension, low-grade fever, mild scleral icterus, RUQ tenderness with voluntary muscle guarding, and positive Murphy's sign on physical exam. Has a family history of biliary disease (mother).
