My assignment will focus on patient with narcissistic personality disorder. I chose this population because I want to explore what could make someone develops this thoughts and feelings.
Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental illness that is associated with an inflated sense of self-importance, lack of empathy for others, seeking admiration or praise and a pattern of grandiosity (Wheeler, 2020). Individuals with this disorder often seek attention and praise from others and can be easily upset when perceived that they are not receiving this attention they deserve (Symptom Media, 2020). This disorder often leads to having difficulty in maintaining friendship, long term relationship. According to Ronningstam (2018), severe stress, and perfectionism often associated with narcissistic personality disorder, also exposure to imperfection, failure, and overwhelming emotions can evoke suicidal ideation in a person with narcissistic behavior………..
