Setting, Access to Potential Subjects, and Consent/Approval

The researcher will implement the project effectively within the hospital’s acute care in-patient unit hosting post-surgical patients. This means that the patients in this study have undergone surgery and catheterization to ensure effective drainage of urine and other wastes while being admitted. The potential subjects in the study include children and adult patients admitted to the healthcare facility. The researcher will effectively use their medical information to depict the CAUTI prevalence and preventive measures.

Moreover, this information will determine if the preventive measures are sufficient or if there is a need for implementing multi-modal evidence-based practices (EBPs) to augment CAUTI prevention. There will be no need for consent or approval from the participants to collect the information. However, the hospital’s management must permit the researcher to access the patient’s health information on the electronic medical records (EMR) systems. This shows the nurse leaders will be are of the research intent, the type of information to be acquired from the EMR, and the confidentiality measures to be utilized.

Timeline

The project will be implemented in a span of six months. This is enough time to collect the needed data and evaluate the findings to help make an efficient conclusion on improved CAUTI prevention. Every activity must be executed within the stipulated period. For instance, the project stakeholders will be identified in the first two weeks while ensuring the project content is shared among healthcare providers. Each project stakeholder will be given specific roles to execute. Such is essential in improving knowledge while facilitating corporation during the implementation period............ Continue
