In this course, we have covered many different topics. One topic that stood out to and resonated with me was whether something recently discussed in class: what is morally permissible. Some people believe that is the decision or action that is being made benefits the majority of the population or community, then it is permissible. Others believe that this line of thinking is not permissible because of other moral standards, like how lying is never permissible. Learning about the many different views on moral permissibility was very enlightening for me; I never grasped how different an individual’s moral compass and standards are from the next person. Another major topic that stood out to me was studying the major philosophy arguments. Understanding them has given me the ability to form and standby my own opinions. Before taking this class, the “mind body problem” had never introduced to me. This idea intrigued me. The idea that a mind could outlast the physical body was something new to me. With the basic understanding of this problem, I can now share my own thoughts on it, educate others, and reframe my thinking.

Now that I know this and many other problems that are discussed widely in philosophy, my way of thinking has changed. I think differently because of all the different ways I could answer or find the answer to a question. Because of this, I can now formulate new and different ways of arguing a point if needed.
