Every individual is unique with their own views driven by an internal moral compass that is influenced by culture, values, spirituality, environment, and life experiences. This paper looks at a case study that involves all of these views and influences on Fetal Abnormality that involves Jessica (expectant mother), Marco (expectant father), Aunt Maria (who the couple lived with) and Dr. Wilson (couple’s primary care physician). Jessica just had a preliminary ultrasound completed on the fetus, which found that the fetus has downs and a rare condition where the fetus will not develop any arms. The family is at a point in the case study of discussing their options with Dr. Wilson. This paper will include theory/ theories that influence each character to determine moral status and recommendation for action of the fetus. With this case study, the author will also discuss own theory and how it influences personal recommendation on the subject.
Worldview Theories and Influence
Everyone’s worldview determines the choices we make and the paths we follow. Worldview is influenced by our culture, beliefs, religion, and moral compass. In health care it is important to be aware of everyone’s views and to be nonjudgmental when providing care. The four characters in case study have their own theories that are determining the moral status of the fetus.
Jessica Theories
Jessica’s is a blended worldview of morals on her unborn fetus. Her moral compass is driven by her spirituality and materialism like her husband. Two theories that Jessica displays are the Modern Western Worldview with a Christian faith based worldview.
