Case Study: Fetal Abnormality

The case study presented describes a couple who are immigrants working long hours and live with Aunt Maria. The couple has reached a point they are able to get their own apartment and have also found out the are expecting. However, due to financial situations the women did not have prenatal care and has just had an ultrasound. “An ultrasound examination is an important confirmation of the pregnancy and is accepted without reflection to any prenatal diagnostic aspects. The physician, Dr. Wilson breaks the news to Marcos. Aunt Maria knows something is wrong and interrupts them. Maria is updated on the situation as Marcos tries to persuade Dr. Wilson from telling his wife,  Jessica the terrible news. Jessica is told since the physician does not feel that he can keep it from her as well as  his advise to abort.. Such situations are not only emotional and stressing for the couple but for others that are close to them like the Aunt Maria.......... Continue
