Pediatric Experience
Even though I lack experience in pediatrics, I am anxious and excited for this clinical rotation. Patient care with this age group will help enhance my knowledge. On my first day of clinical, I observed my preceptor and got to see well visits for infants, school-age, and adolescents, as well as some sick visits. It takes a lot of patience when dealing with pediatric patients and their family members. To be honest, I am concerned that I won’t be able to maintain a healthy work-life balance during this rotation and have enough patience. Research shows that the more individuals experience job demands, such as work overload and time pressure, the more work–life conflict they experience (Boamah, et al, 2022). I want to make the most out of this clinical experience and truly provide exceptional patient care, but I also feel like the extra stressors may be a barrier.
