The role of the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) is to provide mental health services to patients of a diverse population and across the lifespan (Sadock et al., 2015). To be competent in providing mental health services across the lifespan, the PMHNP student must combine classroom experience and clinical experience (Günaydin & Arguvanli Çoban, 2021). The clinical experience provides an opportunity for the PMHNP student to apply classroom learned experience and behaviors to real-world scenarios, partake in interdisciplinary quality care initiatives, and interact with real patients in a valuable hands-on environment (Günaydin & Arguvanli Çoban, 2021). The clinical site provides mental health services including psychiatric evaluations, follow-ups, medication management, and psychotherapy to patients across the lifespan (Günaydin & Arguvanli Çoban, 2021).
