Mental health illness is a health condition that comes with distress that affects social functioning, work or family activities, and does not discriminate. It involves a change in emotion, communication, self-esteem, thinking and behavior. Individuals that have mental health illnesses usually do not like to disclose their illness as they are ashamed of their sickness. Some mental health disorders are treatable by just psychotherapy, and some are treatable by both psychotherapy and pharmacological therapy. My clinical rotation outpatient psychotherapy clinic that deals with family dealing with marital issues, parenting issues, anxiety, stress, grief, and some other dysfunctional behaviors. I had a wonderful preceptor and learned a lot from her. My Preceptor showed me different skills and techniques to deal with clients during a therapy session and specific techniques for specific clients and their disorder. My practicum experience was a great and significant experience for me as I learned many skills use to overcome issues. I learned from my practicum initial patient intake, progress of patients during different sections, maintenance section during patient progress, challenges during a session, end of treatment section, and client satisfaction with the outcome of their treatment during therapy sessions………..
