The psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) has the responsibility to provide mental health services to patients of a diverse population (Sadock et al., 2015). Clinical practicum experience enables the PMHNP to apply classroom knowledge to a real-life learning experience (Chan et al., 2018). The clinical experience provides an opportunity for the PMHNP to partake in interdisciplinary quality care initiatives and interact with real patients in a valuable hands-on environment (Günaydin & Arguvanli Çoban, 2021). The clinical site provides mental health services including psychiatric evaluations, follow-ups, medication management, and psychotherapy to patients across the lifespan (Günaydin & Arguvanli Çoban, 2021). The use of best practices and guidelines is important for a successful clinical learning experience (Chan et al., 2018).
